Performed live by 18 world-class performers.

Inside the room is the music.
Outside the room is history.

Between the performances, cinematic archival film, sound and three narrative voices take audiences beyond the theater doors and into the America surrounding the music.

Across these fifteen years, America faced profound challenges at home and abroad. While the struggle for civil rights forced the nation to confront the divisions within, the Cold War threatened it from beyond its shores. Not every conflict found a clean solution. But America kept striving—and every return to the stage carries greater meaning because of the world outside the room.

American Spirit is not a history lesson. It is a fast-moving, joyful journey as an imperfect nation continued reaching toward its promise.

The music could not solve those conflicts—but it crossed boundaries, opened doors and gave people something they could share.

The Company

Eighteen world-class performers bring American Spirit to life.

Drawn from the worlds of soul, R&B, jazz, rock and traditional popular music, every American Spirit company is assembled from exceptional, world-class performers. The artists may change as the production travels; the standard never does. Together, they transport audiences into six legendary concert rooms—and make the entire evening feel like one extraordinary live performance.
